Pedestrian Safety

HELP US IMPROVE PEDESTRIAN SAFETY IN OUR COMMUNITY!

The City of Augusta is seeking funding to enhance pedestrian safety by improving crosswalks within our business district. Currently, the City of Augusta has received approval from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to install enhanced crosswalk devices at two locations. These locations are the intersections of Spring Street and Stone Street on USH 12/ Lincoln Street. These are proven to be major pedestrian travel ways and are utilized by many members of our community while accessing our businesses, schools, and for other affairs.

Our intention is to install solar-powered flashing beacons, such as those that you may have seen in the Village of Fall Creek. These devices allow pedestrians to activate the additional warnings signals to allow better visibility and notification to the motoring public when crossing the streets.  Our total project cost is approximately $8,000. In addition to seeking grant funding, we are organizing fundraisers to help fund this project.
